This is actually a very popular question.  George Scott, he serves as President to the corporation.  He is generally best contacted at the Durham yard, (530) 345-6241, between the hours of 8am – 12 noon.
Iron & Metals, Batteries (Auto/Equipment), Radiators, Motors, Equipment, Copper, Brass, Scrap Aluminum; pretty much any material made of metal. We accept appliances such as Washers, Dryers, Hot Water Heaters, Dishwashers, etc. We can only accept refrigerators without the motor.
As of August 6, 2021, Chico Scrap Metal (all locations) will no longer be accepting CRV items for recycling.

As many of you know we have been a long standing fight (10yrs) to remain open and to provide recycling services to our community. These efforts have been costly to date.

The City of Chico has chosen to no longer make an effort to settle this dispute/ help us remain open/ help us relocate, and instead continue onto a lawsuit.

Chico Scrap Metal must re-structure and financially prepare for this very costly task and therefore stop business practices that are more service driven than profit making (the volatility of this material swings up and down, at times no profit to be made that covers wages, etc.)

Contact CalRecycle website at CALRECYCLE.CA.GOV to find out the nearest location for recycling CRV material (we believe Oroville is the closest location). We hope that at some point we will be able to accept CRV material again, but most likely only if the state intervenes.

Non-ferrous metal is aluminum, copper, brass  — metal that a magnet does not stick to.  What is meant by dirty vs. clean is that no other material is on that metal.  (i.e. screws, rubber molding, wood framing, netting, etc.).  We accept both clean and dirty non-ferrous material.

We may be able to take other types of containers and card board as a donation only.

Yes, people often are looking for material to make things  (i.e. fencing, frames, art projects, etc.).  You are welcome to stop by our business, check in at the office and we will assist you.
While we can generally quote prices over the phone to give you some idea of what we may be able to pay for the material we must see the material to determine a firm price.
Yes/absolutely.  We accept donations of any material that we normally recycle.
